“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19
Each one of us faces challenges, obstacles and difficult circumstances in our lives, and Jesus can help us overcome and get through all that we face.
Now that we believe that Jesus is our Saviour, we have accepted Him as Lord over our lives, our past has been forgiven, and we can be called children of God. But that is not the end of Jesus being a Saviour to us — it is not the end of Him saving us.
Over the next few chapters, we will look at a few of the challenges or obstacles we may face in life that Jesus can help us with, but we must believe that He can do it. We can believe that He is our Saviour, but still not believe or know that Jesus can help us overcome the situations we face.
We all face difficult situations in life where we are in need, and Jesus can help us in these times — but do you believe that?
Do you believe that Jesus can provide for you? Do you believe that when you have no meals, no money to even buy bread, Jesus can provide for you? Do you believe that Jesus can provide for all your needs?
My answer is yes; Jesus can provide for you. All you need to do is believe and ask. Jesus can provide for every type of need we may have. He can provide for physical needs, which we will touch on in this chapter. He can also provide for needs like healing, or peace, or comfort, which we will learn about later.
In the Bible we can read of many times when Jesus provided for the needs of the people while He was on Earth.
John 6:5–14 tells us how Jesus fed the five thousand. Large crowds followed Jesus, and He taught them and healed the sick. As evening came, the disciples told Jesus to send the people away so they could go to nearby villages to buy food. Jesus told them to give the people something to eat, but they did not have anything to feed so many. They found a boy with five loaves and two fish. Jesus blessed the food and asked the disciples to pass it out. After everyone had eaten, they collected the leftovers and filled twelve baskets.
In this story we see how Jesus provided for the need at the time. The same way Jesus provided for the people, He can provide for your needs as well. All we need is to believe and trust that Jesus will provide for us. That meal you urgently need — He can provide. The money you are short of — He can provide. The books or stationery your children need for school, and you don’t know how to get them — Jesus can provide. The clothes you need and cannot afford — Jesus can provide. The financial difficulties you are facing — Jesus can provide.
All you need to do is believe that Jesus can be your provider, and then ask Him to provide for your needs.
Take some time now to evaluate your life and allow Jesus to minister to you.
Are you in need? Do you believe that Jesus can provide for that need? If you still have doubts, allow Jesus to minister to you and remove them.
Once you believe that Jesus can provide for your needs, look to Him and seek Him in prayer for the needs you have. And if you know someone who is in need, share this with them, so they too can learn about a Saviour who can be their Provider.
Father God, I come to You today, through Your Son Jesus Christ, and stand firm on Your promise in Philippians 4:19 that says, “My God will meet all my needs.” You know my needs, Lord God, and I look to You, my Provider. Please provide for me. I put my trust in You, and know that You will provide for me in Your perfect timing. Please make a way for me. I lean on You, my Provider. If there is any doubt or unbelief, please remove it and help me trust You fully. I thank You, God, for I know You will provide for my needs. I give You praise, glory and honour. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
